A GUEST FOR LUNCH

A guest for lunch.

Sushma was annoyed at her husband. He had just called from office to say that a grandpa of one of his colleagues would be coming over for lunch and would she please entertain him?
He had this habit of sending perfect strangers for lunch to earn some goodwill...at her expense.
When no one turned up at lunch, she decided to wait awhile.  When she just looked out of the window, she saw an elderly gentleman at their gate, looking lost or confused.
She quickly went and invited him inside. The old man, who initially mumbled something in an unknown language, followed her,and after the lunch, thanked her with folded hands and left. Not a single word could be exchanged because of language problem.
Sushma had then just started eating her own lunch when the phone rang.
" Sorry dear, the program is off. That grandpa couldn't make it as he is sick."

THE WAYS OF GOD

Pooja was about to get into the car, when her mom said, " Safe journey dear. My prayers will certainly protect you." Pooja, the agnostic, smiled at mom, but scoffed at the idea. When her car was approaching a hairpin near a dangerous gorge, she was suddenly stopped by a traffic cop who delayed her-in spite of her protests- for checking her papers. Suddenly there was a big sound and the road just ahead caved in due to a landslide. When Pooja, recovering her composure, looked around for the cop, he was nowhere to be seen.

HIS ONLY GOAL.

His only goal. Damu(short for Damodaran), was a man in his late twenties. His only goal in life, apart from praying to his favorite Lord Krishna, was to play football and score atleast one goal. But, being a chronic heart patient, he could only watch others play. Damu lived in a sleepy village in Palakkad, which, like the rest of Kerala, was crazy about the beautiful game. Damu, by now had seen many generations of youth playing football in the village playground.
