Navrathri day 8.

JAI MA DURGA!

The vegetable seller.

Venu, the vegetable vendor was forlorn. Today, he had to do good sales in order to fulfil his commitment of repaying a small loan to a good friend. Though the friend wouldn't really mind, Venu was very particular on keeping his word.
" Durgama, please help," He prayed, though realising at the same time that he was troubling the Goddess for trivial things.
Meanwhile an old lady came and stood near him, offering to assist with the sales. Though Venu knew that her offer was both strange and absurd, he just smiled acquiescence, being a kind hearted man.
Inexplicably, people started flocking to his cart and started buying up his vegetables. They seemed to be fascinated by the old woman, ogling at her and even trying to flirt.
After he had mopped up the day's sale, he tried to thank the old lady but she was nowhere to be found.
" Did you see the old lady who was standing with me till now?" He asked some of his customers.
" What do you mean, old lady! We were wondering who this stunning beauty could be, standing near you?"
Venu was stunned into silence, but he realised that Durga Devi had helped him in this bizarre way.

THE WAYS OF GOD

Pooja was about to get into the car, when her mom said, " Safe journey dear. My prayers will certainly protect you." Pooja, the agnostic, smiled at mom, but scoffed at the idea. When her car was approaching a hairpin near a dangerous gorge, she was suddenly stopped by a traffic cop who delayed her-in spite of her protests- for checking her papers. Suddenly there was a big sound and the road just ahead caved in due to a landslide. When Pooja, recovering her composure, looked around for the cop, he was nowhere to be seen.

HIS ONLY GOAL.

His only goal. Damu(short for Damodaran), was a man in his late twenties. His only goal in life, apart from praying to his favorite Lord Krishna, was to play football and score atleast one goal. But, being a chronic heart patient, he could only watch others play. Damu lived in a sleepy village in Palakkad, which, like the rest of Kerala, was crazy about the beautiful game. Damu, by now had seen many generations of youth playing football in the village playground.
