OF GIFTS.


Six year old Kittu was throwing his usual tantrums at the shopping center, but for an unusual thing- an ordinary, large cotton bag.
His dad obliged, though puzzled.
When he told this to his pregnant wife, she too seemed amused.
Later, a few days after his baby sister was born, Kittu came to his mom's bedside, dragging the very same cotton bag, now full and heavy.
Then he sat himself down, and took out patiently all his toys, as a gift to little sister.

Just eyes. Vivek stood at the open door of the stationary train looking down hesitantly at the total darkness outside. Suddenly he heard the voice again bark out a terse, furious order, " Get off immediately, you fool! If the train moves anytime now, you will miss your destination station." THE WAYS OF GOD

Pooja was about to get into the car, when her mom said, " Safe journey dear. My prayers will certainly protect you." Pooja, the agnostic, smiled at mom, but scoffed at the idea. When her car was approaching a hairpin near a dangerous gorge, she was suddenly stopped by a traffic cop who delayed her-in spite of her protests- for checking her papers. Suddenly there was a big sound and the road just ahead caved in due to a landslide. When Pooja, recovering her composure, looked around for the cop, he was nowhere to be seen.

HIS ONLY GOAL.

His only goal. Damu(short for Damodaran), was a man in his late twenties. His only goal in life, apart from praying to his favorite Lord Krishna, was to play football and score atleast one goal. But, being a chronic heart patient, he could only watch others play. Damu lived in a sleepy village in Palakkad, which, like the rest of Kerala, was crazy about the beautiful game. Damu, by now had seen many generations of youth playing football in the village playground. Every evening, he would turn up without fail to watch the game, after praying at the village Krishna temple. He would plead with the boys to let him play, only to be rebuffed by the more callous ones among them. The kinder ones would explain that it was dangerous for him to play.
