A CONFERENCE


Professor Nikhil was very happy. His detested rival, Professor Akhil hadn't yet reached the conference venue for the inauguration. More than 40 minutes had elapsed. 

He decided to take advantage. 

" Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have to do without the presence of Professor Akhil today, as his car has had a breakdown."

Before the gathering could react, Professor Akhil walked in with an apologetic smile.

Patting his rival on the back, and with a mischievous wink, Akhil told the gathering,
" Professor Nikhil is known for his humorous pranks...Thank you Nikhil, for keeping the honorable guests engaged with your wit."

He continued, as the red-faced Nikhil watched,

" Dear guests, sorry for keeping you waiting. Now shall we begin please?"

Just eyes. Vivek stood at the open door of the stationary train looking down hesitantly at the total darkness outside. Suddenly he heard the voice again bark out a terse, furious order, " Get off immediately, you fool! If the train moves anytime now, you will miss your destination station." THE WAYS OF GOD

Pooja was about to get into the car, when her mom said, " Safe journey dear. My prayers will certainly protect you." Pooja, the agnostic, smiled at mom, but scoffed at the idea. When her car was approaching a hairpin near a dangerous gorge, she was suddenly stopped by a traffic cop who delayed her-in spite of her protests- for checking her papers. Suddenly there was a big sound and the road just ahead caved in due to a landslide. When Pooja, recovering her composure, looked around for the cop, he was nowhere to be seen.

HIS ONLY GOAL.

His only goal. Damu(short for Damodaran), was a man in his late twenties. His only goal in life, apart from praying to his favorite Lord Krishna, was to play football and score atleast one goal. But, being a chronic heart patient, he could only watch others play. Damu lived in a sleepy village in Palakkad, which, like the rest of Kerala, was crazy about the beautiful game. Damu, by now had seen many generations of youth playing football in the village playground.
